Fiberglass is a polymer that has been used since the 1960’s. Since that time, it has gone from being the primary insulation used for homes and buildings, to being used in the construction of boats, boats, aircraft and other transportation vehicles. Today, fiberglass is being used in a large number of different ways. Here are just a few of the many ways in which fiberglass can be used:

• Insulation – Fiberglass is the primary insulation used for houses and other buildings. It is strong, durable and offers good sound-proofing properties. It is resistant to moisture and mildew.

• Pipes – Fiberglass is used in a wide array of pipes including water supply and wastewater pipes, storm water pipes, irrigation lines, fire hoses, air conditioning lines, industrial pipes, etc.

• Tank – Fiberglass tanks are used for storing fuel, water, chemicals, acids, oils, waste, etc. These tanks are generally made from a polyethylene and have a layer of epoxy or urethane on the inside to prevent corrosion and leaks.

• Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) – Fiberglass can be used to make protective garments. These include flame retardant work wear, chemical protective work wear, electrical hazard personal protective equipment, wet suits, dive suits, etc.

• House Building – Fiberglass is used for building roofs, walls, floors and even window frames. It can also be used for constructing small buildings.

• Beverage – Many beverage companies use fiberglass for bottles and containers. Glasses, mugs, kettles, bottles, cans, jars, etc. are all made from fiberglass.

• Boats – Fiberglass boats are commonly used for fishing and boating.

• Bathroom Floors – Fiberglass bathtubs, sinks and countertops are usually made from a polyester resin. They are lightweight and offer superior strength. They are resistant to scratches and stains and come with a lifetime warranty.

• Kitchen Appliances – Fiberglass kitchen appliances are a common sight in kitchens. They include cook tops, ovens, microwave ovens, dishwashers and refrigerators. These kitchen appliances are highly durable and come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes.

• Commercial Buildings – Fiberglass can be used to construct commercial buildings. These include high rise buildings, warehouses, factories, storage facilities, office buildings, etc. They are durable and offer excellent insulation properties. They are resistant to fire and heat and come in various sizes and colors. They are easy to construct and come with a high quality finish.

A more brief-er approach to the list would be to consider them in a list. Fiberglass is a natural material that is derived from the wood pulp of trees. You will find fiberglass in the form of long strands or sheets that are used in a variety of applications including insulation, construction and personal protection. It is also a versatile material that can be used to make a large number of products which need strength (through and through!). Fiberglass has several advantages over other materials. For example, it is very light in weight. This means that it is easy to transport and handle. It is also very inexpensive. It does not break easily and is very resistant to moisture. It also offers excellent sound proofing properties. Fiberglass is highly durable and is resistant to a wide range of weather conditions. You can safely use it in cold, hot, humid, rainy, snowy or windy weather. Obviously not accounting for the hottest summers!

Fiberglass is generally considered to be an inert material, meaning that it doesn't react with most materials and substances. However, there are some things that you should avoid doing when you are using it. Avoid breathing the dust produced during manufacturing, handling, and installation. In addition, keep children away from fiberglass when installing it. They may put their hands into the container and get their fingers stuck. Also, wear safety glasses or goggles when handling fiberglass. Fiberglass dust has a high content of silica and can irritate your eyes and throat.
